Hello Thomas,

you can get the default positioning via FCTextExpressionDef and you can get the actual position via FCExpression. If you calc the difference, you can find our whether it has been moved.

Is it that what you are looking for?

Harald

Dear experts,

I guess this is might be a common problem. Say we have a script that automates positioning of certain elements like certain expressions. Now there are some expressions that were carefully positioned by hand and shouldn't be re-positioned by our Lua script.

I can think of strategies for flagging objects in Sibelius or Score, but I have no idea how to do it in Finale. Maybe except for adding some extra text saying "don't touch" and hide it. But detecting these texts might slow things down significantly.

Any best practices?

Best,
Thomas Weber
