Thanks Chris and Jan,

You've helped me solve an issue that has bugged me since 2006. My 16th
century brain has always considered a longa rest as a vertical bar spanning
two staff spaces, not Maestro character 221. The dotted half note I get in
its place is character 221 in my Renaissance font, which I have mistakenly
believed was in Maestro. Now that I have the problem pinpointed I see two
solutions. First is to redesign my Renaissance font to make character 221
the vertical bar that I expect, or figure out how to change the longa rest
character programmatically - my preferred choice. I wish it was one of the
options in Document Options, but alas.

But wait! I just found FCMusicCharacterPrefs:SetSymbolLongaRest() I think
I'll try that.
