[JW Lua] Dot placement

Are there any methods for determining the exact placement of an augmentation dot? Vertical placement can be tricky when dealing with seconds and unisons, especially since lines and spaces are treated differently. 

What I'm trying to do is reliably hide a dot by placing it exactly over another. Even better would be simply hiding the dot outright, bit that doesn't seem to be an option.
