We've had a discussion on FCMusicCharacterPrefs:SetSymbolLongaRest()
sometime ago on this list (on the 5th April 2015).<br>
It seems that the longa rest character can ONLY be changed through
JW Lua. Finale doesn't have a dialog for it.<br>
That's why you probably never noticed the possibility.<br>

<p class="MsoNormal">You've helped me solve an issue that has
bugged me since 2006. My 16<sup>th</sup> century brain has
always considered a longa rest as a vertical bar spanning two
staff spaces, not Maestro character 221. The dotted half note
I get in its place is character 221 in my Renaissance font,
which I have mistakenly believed was in Maestro. Now that I
have the problem pinpointed I see two solutions. First is to
redesign my Renaissance font to make character 221 the
vertical bar that I expect, or figure out how to change the
longa rest character programmatically – my preferred choice. I
wish it was one of the options in Document Options, but alas…<o:p></o:p></p>

FCMusicCharacterPrefs:SetSymbolLongaRest() I think I'll try
that.<o:p></o:p></p>
