Well, know I know what "Messa di voce" means. :-) It is highly accurate in
describing the function of the plug-in and I'm now unlikely to forget what
it means. In that sense I think it's ok to use (took 5 seconds on google to
 find the definition).

If you want to use something that requires less than 5 seconds of effort on
the part of the user you could use "Single Pitch Swells" (or "Single Note
Swells").

The "Single Pitch" part addresses the question that Vaughan and other users
may have about applying the swell over multiple notes vs a single note.
"Pitch" also has an advantage over "Note" in that is naturally implies that
tied notes will be interpreted as a single entry. The "Swell" part (since it
would located in the Dynamic container) makes it clear that you're talking
about dynamics.

The advantage using the word "Hairpin" (as in "Hairpin Swells") has is that
it clearly refers to notation. Without that a user may think this function
is only a midi or volume control editor. But "Single Note Hairpin Swells"
sounds a bit labored. Maybe the plugin name "JW Patterns" is enough to
indicate visual patterns only. Are there any non-notational patterns in the
plugin (e.g., "late exponential accel", "linear rit.", "early exponential
volume controller #7 increase", late exponential key velocity increase, etc.).
HP doesn't always produce the most convincing HP :-) and a plugin to edit
common of "performance patterns" would be welcome by those making demos.

Would the plugin name "JW Notational Patterns" be more specific?

Hello!

I have a task in a plug-in currently named "Messa di voce", that
creates "< >" hairpins on single long notes.

Would that be OK as a name for this task, or would it be confusing? Is
there a better name available? (The task is not specific to vocal music.)

Best regards,

Jari Williamsson
